Oakland Raiders Who Protested the National Anthem
* Obviously, the list below is not the entire list. These are only the confirmed players we could identify based on the photos and tapes of the protest. Unfortunately, some players we could not identify.
WEEK 17:
In the last week of the regular season, Marshawn Lynch remained seated and again refused to stand during the National Anthem, as was the case the entire season.
WEEK 11:
In week 11, the Oakland Raiders played in Mexico City. Marshawn Lynch stood for a few moments of the Star-Spangled Banner National Anthem for the United States before sitting for the rest of the anthem. Howerver, Lynch stood for the duration of the Mexican National Anthem.
WEEK 9:
One week after Oakland Raider Marshawn Lynch's one-game suspension due to physical contact with a referee, he again resumed his action of refusing to rise for the National Anthem, while the rest of the team rose and covered him.
WEEK 6:
Marshawn Lynch sat for the National Anthem, but rose for a moment of silence for the North Bay fire victims.
WEEK 4:
Marshawn Lynch was the only player who protested the National Anthem by remaining seated. Lynch entered the stadium with a t-shirt that read "EVERYBODY VS TRUMP", which again reinforces the fact that these players have no idea what they are protesting - other than showing their disrespect and lack of patriotism for the United States of America.
WEEK 3:
Most of the Oakland Raiders protested in week 3 by kneeling or sitting, including: Marshawn Lynch, Cordarrelle Patterson, Amari Cooper, Vadal Alexander, Marshall Newhouse, Reggie Nelson, David Amerson, Antonio Hamilton, TJ Carrie, Keith McGill, Karl Joseph, Tyrell Adams, Xavier Woodson-Luster, James Cowser, Justin Ellis, Eddie Vanderdoes, and Mario Edwards Jr. Derek Carr stood for the anthem, looked up to the sky and prayed. The large week 3 protest was in response to President Donald Trump's criticism of players sitting and kneeling in protest of the National Anthem. Trump believes this is disrespectful to the nation and those who fought and for it.
WEEK 2:
For the second week in a row, Marshawn Lynch sat for the National Anthem and was the only protestor on his team.
WEEK 1:
Marshawn Lynch sat down in protest during the National Anthem, which he has done since the preseason games.
