WEEK 4:
All player stood for the national anthem this week. However, instead of covering his heart, Brandon Marshall raised his fist into the air above his head, giving the radical "black power" sign during the National Anthem, which we consider protest.
WEEK 3:
32 Denver Broncos players kneeled in protest during the National Anthem, including: Jamaal Charles, Emmanuel Sanders, Demaryius Thomas, Bennie Fowler III, Cody Latimer, Virgil Green, Max Garcia, Ronald Leary, Von Miller, Shaquil Barrett, Brandon Marshall, Zaire Anderson, Lorenzo Doss, Will Parks, Chris Harris Jr., Aqib Talib, Bradley Roby, Justin Simmons, DeMarcus Walker, Shelby Harris, Adam Gotsis, Domata Peko, and Zach Kerr. The group included the two team captains Von Miller andDemaryius Thomas. Virgil Green and Shaquil Barrett stood with their fists raised in the "black power" sign - which is considered a protest of the National Anthem.
The large week 3 protest is in response to President Donald Trump's comments days earlier that criticized NFL players who were sitting/kneeling during the National Anthem, as disrespectful to America and the people who fought and died for it.
